What’s wrong with making the first move?
If reaching out comes from the fear of please don’t leave me, then yes, it can become exhausting.
But what if it comes from somewhere else?
From I like you.
From I want to kiss you.
From I want to hold you.
From I simply want to see you.
Then what’s wrong with that?
Perhaps the greatest freedom we have is the freedom to choose.
To take the first step.
To close the distance.
To tell someone they matter before life asks us to wonder whether we should have.
I am glad I chose to move first.
Every step towards you, I ran.
The wind rushing past my ears felt strangely liberating.
Not because I was chasing something I feared losing.
But because I was moving towards something I genuinely wanted.
I am proud of that courage.
And if I’m honest, I still feel like telling you every day:
I like you.
I like you very, very much.
Long live initiative.
